Delicious ending spoilers follow.
Netflix has its own Saltburn meets Parasite thriller in Delicious, which tucked into 6.5 million views over its opening weekend and is currently the second most-watched movie worldwide behind Plankton: The Movie.
The movie follows a wealthy German family – Esther, John and their children Philipp and Alba – on vacation at their French villa. Their life unravels though when they hit Teodora on their way back home after dinner at a local hotel.
What to Read Next
They take Teodora back home and attempt to pay her off to avoid having to take her to the hospital; after all, she only has a cut on her arm. But the next day, she comes back to their villa, saying she's lost her job because of her injury and asks to be their housekeeper.
We know from the get-go that Teodora isn't telling the truth as we see her friend give her the injury before the supposed car 'accident'. But what exactly is Teodora up to?
Let's tuck into the shocking ending of Delicious to explain all if you've still got some questions. Major spoilers await if you haven't seen the movie though.
Delicious ending explained: Eat the rich
It doesn't take long for Teodora to unravel Esther and John's seemingly-perfect marriage as they're both frustrated in different ways.
Teodora encourages Esther to have an affair with her friend Lucien, while John is already busy at it with family friend Cora. Teodora also manages to drive a wedge between the parents and their children, encouraging Philipp to be more socially conscious and lying to Esther that Alba is stealing her things.
It's clear that there's also something not quite right with Teodora and her friends, with Teodora eating some raw meat, Lucien having a fridge full of fresh meat in bags and not being too bothered that their other friend, Amber, goes missing after a night at the beach.
All is revealed at a birthday party that Esther attends with Lucien, which Teodora also asks John to attend, but he turns her down. Talking to a fellow partygoer, Esther finally realises that Teodora and Lucien both worked as staff at the hotel where they went to dinner before the car 'accident'.
Shaken by the realisation, Esther goes to freshen up in the bathroom, only for the sink to spurt up blood.
She tries to leave, but finds herself in a room where one party guest is eating another, before Teodora stops her leaving:
"I was never your friend, Esther, and I was never your maid. You underestimated us right from the start. Your fences are high, but your perfect world cannot be separated from ours. You are no longer safe. You cannot hide. Because we are many, and you are just a few."
Lucien then bites into Esther's neck, and we're pretty sure that the rest of the party guests, including Teodora, have their fill too. We don't see it as we cut back to the house where, after their starter, Teodora kills John and they likely enjoy their main too.
Yes, Delicious is a very literal take on the classic saying 'Eat the Rich' which is widely attributed to philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau: "When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich."
It's clearly not the first time that Teodora and her friends have decided to tuck into any wealthy family who have unfortunately come across their path. Each of her friends is seen with a scar, potentially a hint that they have played Teodora's role before in being somebody injured by a wealthy family.
Amber too is somebody who they ate that night at the beach. We see her pulled under the water, and then everybody is eating barbecued meat after their swim with Lucien telling Esther: "You won't get fresher than this."
Quite.
Back to the ending of the movie though, and Philipp comes back to the villa after storming off earlier when he was caught perving on Teodora through an open window.
Teodora has kindly left Philipp a meal though, so he takes a slice of the meat on the counter and warms it in the microwave. As he mops up the 'gravy' with some bread, Philipp nearly breaks a tooth on a ring which looks awfully like the wedding band that John wore.
It likely means that Philipp has tucked into a bit of his father John, but we suppose it could be the leftovers from Esther and the ring was just left as a twisted gift for him to discover.
We then see Teodora and her friends back on the road with Alba in tow. After all, it's not Alba's fault that she was born into a wealthy family, and there might still be a chance for her.
They're cannibals, not monsters...
